City of North Adams Windsor Lake Commission Meeting
June 20, 2017
OPEN MEETING : Meeting called to order at 5:35pm by Nancy Bullett
PRESENT: Commission members Dave Racette, Larry Jowett, Nancy Bullett; absent
Arlen Cellana
GUESTS: Deb Forgea of friends of Windsor Lake, Josh Moran City Councilor, Mike
Canales City Administrator, Brenna Irrer, Brittany Choquette
APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR MEETING FOR MAY 30, 2017; unanimously
approved as presented
NEW BUSINESS:
Josh Moran presented a proposal to expand the trails in and around Windsor
Lake and to include trail marking.
Goals; identify existing trails, provide trail maps; possible $800.00 to assist
with cost. Dave R. asked if trail width needed to increase to accommodate
mountain bikes. Trails would be multi-use. Could post no cycling during mud
season and could develop directional trails. Commission voted and approved
Josh's proposal. Brenna offered information about New England Bike
Association.
OLD BUSINESS:
Charity swim event: Paul Olchvary will train for event on off hours. He will
provide a kayak to follow him on the laps around the lake. He will provide a
list of local charity organizations he plans to support through his efforts.
Book project; Mike to follow up with Ben Mancino
Playground update; Mike Canales Not advised to move existing playground
equipment from Sullivan School due to potential damage and ADA compliance
issues. Mike to follow up with ideas for new playground.
Campground rules review
administration financial report/ discussion regarding rates; continue to next
meeting
Hoosac Tunnel update; nothing to report at this time
dogs in the park
OPEN FORUM
-Mike Canales reported one leach issue; will monitor
public beach needs raking
Deb Forgea presented a certificate of thanks to Nancy Bullett from the Friends
of Windsor Lake.
Electric and wifi in the campground need to be addressed and should be a
priority.
